Deep Lies

Beautiful and intense San Diego County supervisor, Linda Reed, needs help with a blackmailer.  She asks a former romance, medically retired police detective, now private investigator Peter Beard, to take the case.  As Pete begins the investigation, the suspected blackmailer is found murdered in his apartment; leaving Linda Reed as the primary suspect.  The clues reveal a 60 year old tale of smuggling and a brutal struggle for power and position, leading Pete into a complex web of graft, corruption and troubling motives.

Pete is now challenged to find out what truth has to do with justice.  In the end, he discovers that what he knows and what he believes are further apart than he previously thought; finding his adversary to embody the hardest of traits; deceit, betrayal and greed.
